About

A WALK IN THE PAST

The Abingdon Collection represents over 50 years of passionate collecting and is divided into two very distinct areas of interest:

The first part concentrates on World War II and represents one of the largest collections in private ownership, with over 2,500 items on permanent display.

This part of the Collection is dedicated to my father, Jack Faithfull, who served for over 21 years with the Worchester Regiment and to his brother, Ivor who lost his life in the North Atlantic Convoys, when his merchant vessel was torpedoed by a German U Boat. More than 65 years after this ‘Total War’, many have forgotten the supreme sacrifice that so many had to make. This Collection is in memory of them all.

“Lest We Forget”

The second part of the Collection focuses on my interest in Classic Vehicles. Over the years I have assembled a small, but interesting collection to include  MGTD, MGA Fixed Head Coupe, MGB, MGC, Opel Manta, Porsche 911 SC, BMW, Ford Capri and a wide variety of 1950’s and 60’s collectables.

The Collection is complemented by over 500 die cast model cars, photographs and automobilia; it also includes Harley Davidson, Triumph, and Kawasaki Motorcycles.

If you lived through the 50’s 60’s and 70’s or just like “Big Boys’ Toys” then there is definitely something here for you. The Collection is open by appointment only, but every effort will be made to facilitate small groups or individuals.

The Collection is open to visitors free of charge, but contributions are gratefully accepted in aid of Cancer Research UK.
