Motoring Through the Ages – The Way We Were

The Abingdon Collection is a small private collection open to the public, raising money for Cancer Research. I have been collecting classic cars, enamel signs, motorcycles and memorabilia for over fifty years and have built up a unique mixture of items which reflects my interests but also reminds visitors of what the essence of true motoring was all about.

We tend to look at the past through ‘rose tinted glasses’, but there is no doubt that an item from the past can often reawaken long forgotten memories and stimulate discussion on the way we were.

We tend to remember the breakdown on a wet windy night in the middle of nowhere and well before the dawn of the mobile phone. The hours we spent underneath a ‘past it’s sell date’ classic lying on a damp, cold concrete floor risking life and limb underneath a wreck held precariously in the air with two breeze blocks, two bits of wood and a lot of faith.

Anyway, if you want to relive those days come along and have a look… you may be surprised.

The collection currently contains the following vehicles which have all been restored to a very high standard.
